Holy Name Society

The Holy Name Society is committed to helping its members grow in holiness through devotion to the most holy name of Jesus. Members are called to be leaders, faithful to the sacrament of penance, strengthening themselves with the most holy Eucharist, nourishing their souls on sacred Scripture, increasing their desire for divine love through prayer and leading their families, friends and co-workers to Jesus Christ by acts of charity.

A list of Holy Name Society events will be available on the parish calendar when dates become available. You may also download and print a copy of the calendar found here: https://www.stannerostraver.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Holy-Name-Society-2024-Calendar-of-Events.pdf

Mission Statement

The Holy Name Society of St. Anne Church will endeavor to help people live more fulfilling and independent lives in the name of the Holy Name of Jesus. And to help organizations fulfill their goal of helping others in need through the Holy Name of Jesus. Our initiatives will be based on Christian beliefs in order to advance the mission of the Holy Name Society of St. Anne Church. The purpose of the society is to beget reverence for the Holy Name of God and Jesus Christ. The charitable acts can be in the form of direct labor, or it can be in the form of fund raising. The act of fund raising permits the Holy Name Society to select causes which will be vetted by the Finance Committee. The final decision will be made by a vote from the membership. It is the hope of the Holy Name Society that through these charitable acts, more men will be encouraged to become members in His Name.

The members of the society are to assist in parish ministries by performing the Corporal Works of Mercy, which are:

  • To feed the hungry
  • To clothe the naked
  • To give drink to the thirsty
  • To shelter the homeless
  • To tend to the sick
  • To visit those in prison
  • To bury the dead

The primary objective of the Holy Name Society is to beget reverence for the Holy Name of God and Jesus Christ.

The secondary objective of the Holy Name Society Committee is to prudentially allocate available funds in ways that honor or reward works that adhere to serving God and the Church of St. Anne.
